Madrid women’s derby attracts over 22,000


Saturday’s derby in Liga Iberdrola saw leaders Atlético and newcomers Madrid CFF draw 2-2 in front of a crowd of 22,202.

Aurerlie Kaci and Marta Corredera twice gave the hosts the advantage but they were pegged back on each occasion.

Former Bristol Academy and Reading striker, Jade Boho Sayo netted a brace for the seventh-placed visitors.

Atlético still hold a narrow one-point lead over Barcelona in what is effectively a two-horse race for the title.

Toni Duggan scored her side’s only goal as Barca rescued a point at fourteenth-placed Sporting Huelva.

Real Madrid still do not have a women’s team.
