Gillingham 5-1 Old Actonians

Newly-crowned Northern Division champions, Sporting Club Albion, finished four points clear of Preston with a 1-0 win that sent Loughborough Foxes down.

The hosts had to win to be sure of finishing outside the bottom two and the game was goalless until approaching the last quarter of an hour, when Karen Clough fired home the only goal for the Baggies.

Tranmere were unable to secure their Northern Division 1 safety in the first of their two remaining games, as they lost 2-1 to third-placed Chorley.

That leaves Rovers just one goal ahead of Stockport and they must take something from Sunday’s home match with Chester-le-Street to avoid ending up in the drop zone, as they have scored less goals than County.

South East runners-up, Gillingham, ended their fixtures by beating Old Actonians 5-1. The visitors had equalised Fiona Constable’s opener through Chelsea Berlin to be level at the break but Kallie Balfour hit two in three minutes after the restart and Jade Keough netted from 25 yards on the hour mark. Eight minutes later and Georgia Reece completed the scoring also from distance.
