It’s a double thrill for Lewisham residents, who earlier this summer witnessed ex-England skipper and footballing legend David Beckham running through local streets whilst shooting a new TV ad. Viewers with a keen eye will notice Beckham heading out for an epic run, taking in many locations, including the railway tunnels on Lewisham’s Rolt Street.
“Lewisham is the perfect backdrop, not just for TV ads but for all things football” said David Streetley, Football Development Officer at the London FA.
“The London borough of Lewisham currently has over 54 London FA affiliated football clubs and many more recreational and small sided teams that truly represent a diverse community and therefore is perfectly placed to host what will be a huge event for the borough and for the London FA”.
Full of fun and football, the London FA Football Festival aims to provide an introduction to people of all ages, genders, interests and abilities into how they can get involved with football in Lewisham and London as a whole.
Streetley adds
“Whether you are a player, referee, coach or volunteer, any age or ability, there is something for you at this event. Come along and meet our London FA team, local football partners and join in with the football fun, workshops and tournaments”
“With a huge range of activities on offer, there truly is something for everyone and we hope to see as many people as possible enjoying the day and discovering all the opportunities London FA has to offer”
