London City Lionesses vs West Ham preview
At the start of this season many believed this weekend’s clash would be a relegation thriller, but London City Lionesses have been a refreshing surprise to start the campaign.
Through five games so far the newly-promoted team have proved that they can do battle with the best clubs in England.
Despite losing twice to start the season, Jocelyn Prêcheur’s side have won two of their last three games. Their latest win came last weekend in a narrow victory at home against Liverpool although the winner was controversial.

With their three losses so far coming against Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United, there are plenty of positives to take out of the start to this year.
West Ham in contrast really are in a relegation battle and they have been the most disappointing WSL side to date.
The Hammers are one of only two teams to have lost every single game to start the campaign and they need to start picking up results fast if they are going to stay in the top flight.
Aston Villa were the latest team to turn over West Ham in a 2-0 win last weekend. Sarah Brasero was the latest player to admit her frustrations over her team’s winless start to the year following the loss.
There was one positive for the team during the week, as Rehanne Skinner’s team picked up their first win of the year in a League Cup match against Brighton.

London City Lionesses vs West Ham Team news
With the team playing so well right now, it is unlikely that Prêcheur will make many changes from last week’s win with no fresh injury concerns.
Sanni Franssi was disappointing in the win and she could be replaced by Freya Godfrey in the team’s only rotation.
The Lionesses have recalled Sophia Poor from her loan and the goalkeeper should travel with the squad.
She’s back!🧤

West Ham on the other hand may be forced into a change or two as they desperately search for a first league win.
Leila Wandeler has proved to be a bright spark in her appearances for the Hammers this season and the winger is pushing for a start this weekend.
Shekeira Martinez netted a brace in West Ham’s League Cup win and should lead the line once more.
Predicted lineups
London City Lionesses: Lete; Sangare, Linari, Fernandez, Corrales; Geyoro, Kumagi, Godfrey; Goodwin, Parris; Asllani.
West Ham: Szemic, Endo, Nystrom, Zadorsky, Denton; Gorry, Siren, Ueki; Wandeler, Asseyi; Martinez.
London City Lionesses vs West Ham prediction
While West Ham might be able to keep this one close, we think that yet again they will suffer another WSL defeat this weekend.
London City Lionesses have proved time and time again that they can grind out wins in the top-flight this year and this could be another one goal win for the side.
A win for the Lionesses could push them up to as high as fifth in the league as they continue to defy expectations.
Prediction: London City Lionesses 2-1 West Ham
