
London City Lionesses and Sunderland both began their FA Women’s League Cup group stage games with away wins on Thursday evening.
London City Lionesses struck late on against Southampton to take the points in Group C, Maddi Wilde scoring with four minutes left of the 90 from Gesa Marashi’s corner.

Sunderland led after just two minutes at Sheffield United, where Mary McAteer’s low cross set up Katy Watson for a tap-in.
Maria Farrugia fired Sheffield level assisted by Ella Kinzett, early in the second half of the Group C game.
Emily Cassap got the winner for the Black Cats with 13 minutes remaining, curling an effort from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.
