London Bees Extend Lead

FA WSL 2 SPRING SERIES

Saturday 4th March
London Bees 3-1 Oxford United (Att: 479)

Three first-half goals secured victory for the Bees, with winless Oxford getting only a late consolation, as the hosts built up a four-point buffer at the top of the table.

Hana Lalani opened the scoring with just 6 minutes played, with a well taken left-footed shot after going past a defender on the edge of the box.

The Bees doubled their lead when Emma Beckett bravely nodded home after a free-kick from Paula Howells, but a nasty clash of heads caused both Beckett and Oxford goalkeeper Lucy Thomas off injured.

The game was all but over when Ashleigh Goddard drove from midfield and fired into the top corner, leaving Demi Lambourne, the replacement keeper, helpless.

Ini Umotong’s efforts up front for Oxford were rewarded with a fine effort on the turn, from the edge of the box after 88 minutes.
