Livingston will compete in the Scottish Women’s Football Championship next season, in partnership with Blackburn United.

The team will head up the pathway at Blackburn, with all the youth teams and Development Ladies remaining under the Blackburn badge, playing their games out of New Murrayfield Park, with Livingston Women wearing the club kit and playing and training at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

Blackburn United’s Nigel Thorpe told livingstonfc.co.uk: “At these times of change within the women’s game we need to be proactive and not reactive, having this partnership with Livingston FC keeps us on the front foot and will provide the girls in the fantastic youth section at Blackburn United with a goal and a clear direction as they continue to develop, as without them there would be no Livingston WFC.”

Robert Wilson, Chairman of Livingston FC added: “Let me begin with saying how excited everyone at Livingston FC are to be able to field a women’s football team in the SWF for the forthcoming season, February 2020. We were the only top-flight team that never had a women’s football team and I think we had to do our very best to make that happen, I’m proud that during my tenure we have a women’s team wearing the Livingston badge and the 1st team kit.”

Affiliation for season 2020 has been accepted by the SWF and the side will continue to participate within the performance section of the game, within the Championship (last season it was the SWFL1 South).
