Liverpool sign Welsh international defender Lily Woodham

Welsh international Lily Woodham becomes Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer

Liverpool have added yet another signing to their ranks this summer with Welsh international Lily Woodham joining the Reds from Seattle Reign.

Woodham started her career with Bristol City in the WSL before making a move to Reading in 2018.

The youngster then spent five years with the Royals before they were relegated to the Championship in 2024.

Last season Woodham spent her first year abroad in the NWSL with Seattle Reign but she only made eight appearances in the States, spending the rest of the campaign on loan with Crystal Palace.

The Welsh international did take part in Euro 2025 this summer with Wales getting knocked out in the group stage.

Although her nation had an early exit, experience in her country’s first major tournament could prove to be invaluable to the young defender.

What did Lily Woodham say after signing for Liverpool?

After signing for Liverpool, Woodham admitted that she is a lifelong Liverpool fan.

“It’s amazing. Obviously I’m a fan of Liverpool, so it’s a dream come true really.” Woodham said. “I’m really excited to meet everyone. It already feels like a home from home and everyone has been so nice to me and welcomed me. I just want to bring everything I can to the team and always give my all in games and training.”

Woodham also revealed that Wales teammates and Liverpool stars Ceri Holland and Gemma Evans have already welcomed her to the side.

“I had a few conversations with them and they said how much they love it here and how incredible the staff and the team are. I’ve had a look around the facilities and it is amazing.

“You kind of get that friendly feel and as soon as I walked in here I was like, ‘Oh yeah, now I get what they meant and how nice everyone is.’ The atmosphere and the vibe, it’s just been so nice to be around on day one. It has been amazing.”

Lily Woodham becomes fourth Liverpool signing

After a disappointing campaign in 2024/25 it is no surprise to see Liverpool getting active in the transfer market.

Woodham becomes the fourth player to sign for Liverpool this summer, joining Rafaela Borgraffe and midfielders Sam Kerr and Kirsty Maclean.

The Reds have lost some key players in the window however. Olivia Smith was the biggest loss, with Arsenal’s new signing the first female player to garner a £1million transfer fee.
