Liverpool Feds were last night 4-1 winners over Merseyrail in the final of the Liverpool County FA Women’s Senior Cup.
The FAWNL side took the lead against their North West League opponents on 15 minutes, Emily Douglas scoring from the spot after a handball in the box.
The Feds might well have added to their advantage before the break but breathed a sigh of relief as Merseyrail had a goal disallowed.
With 20 minutes to go the lead was doubled, Laura Bartup’s initial shot was saved but Jodie Mortimer buried the rebound.
Molly Farley made it 3-0 and Jennifer Rogers got the goal of the game with an overhead kick, before the underdogs netted a consolation through a Shelley James penalty.
Merseyrail manager Dave Miley has since stepped down, having been with the club since it was formed six years ago.
