Stoke were ahead on 13 minutes through Ashleigh Hayes but Liverpool Feds pulled level with a Carla Lee finish on 73 minutes. No goals in extra time meant a shoot-out, in which Kelsey Richardson was the unfortunate Potters’ player to miss.
Cambridge United are a division below QPR but top of the table while Rangers are bottom, with the U’s coming through 3-1. Becky Taylor and Laura Mills both got very late goals after QPR’s Jessica Treharne had cancelled out Taylor’s opener.
Charlton won the South East London derby at Selhurst Park, breaking Crystal Palace hearts in the last dozen minutes. Alma Donohoe gave the Eagles a 40th-minute advantage, only for Rosey Sullivan to reply and Charley Clifford to grab a late winner.
Middlesbrough edged through against North East League newcomers Hartlepool United, with Millie Bell the scorer.
Underdogs Leyton Orient also made it hard for Spurs, who made the breakthrough on 76 minutes from Wendy Martin. Sophie McLean might have doubled the lead but her penalty kick hit the post.
MK Dons had to come from behind to defeat Hemel Hempstead from two divisions below. Heather McDonnell scored either side of Hannah Barrett’s goal for the Dons.
Leigh Dugmore and Abi Cottam both scored in the first 8 minutes as West Brom went on to defeat Fylde 4-1. Trina Greaves got a third before Danielle Young replied but then got sent off. Cottam rounded off the scoring with her second.
Blackburn’s Faye McCoy struck from distance with 3 minutes to go as Rovers won by the only goal at Bradford City.
Charlotte Broad headed home from a Lyndsey Harkin corner to send Nottingham Forest through 1-0 at Guiseley.
There was also just a single goal in it at Huddersfield where Derby were the winners but the hosts felt aggrieved that their 85th-minute attempt on goal was not judged to have crossed the line.
Sarah Kempson got a couple in Portsmouth’s 4-1 win at Luton Town. Natasha Stephens and Rebecca Bell were also on the scoresheet for Pompey, the Hatters getting a consolation from Nicola Henman.
AFC Wimbledon replicated that scoreline at Norwich City, where the Dons struck three times in the second half.
Coventry City had their tie at West Ham won by the break, with Alison Hall, Maz Gauntlett and Jade Brook finding the net.
Brighouse Town progressed with goals by Kerry Bamforth and Jodie Redgrave (2), despite Peterborough Northern Star pulling a couple back.
Eastern League Acle Unted bowed out with a 2-0 home loss to C&K Basildon.
Jessica Clark, Nicole Dack and Sophie Williams got second-half goals in Newcastle United’s 3-0 success at Tynedale.
Wolves sent Solihull to a 4-0 reverse, with Jenni Anslow netting direct from a corner, before Jade Cross scored either side of a Vicky Brackenberry effort.
Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes of a cup upset were ended by four first-half goals from Radcliffe Olympic, who added a couple more after the restart.
Sophie Domingo and Kim Farrow were amongst the goals as Leicester City Women won 3-0 at Birmingham & West Midlands.
Over 400 watched Sheffield United score in either half at Bramall Lane to eliminate Leicester City Women Development.
Georgia Bridges scored to give Lewes the half-time lead over Brislington, Dani Lane later bagged a brace, Kim Stenning and Hayley Bridge one apiece.
Hull City scored through Sophie Stamp in their first attack at Norton & Stockton and although the home side levelled, the Tigers ran out 6-1 victors as Misty Russell claimed a hat-trick, Katie Thompson and Elish Robinson added one each.
Keynsham Town matched that score at Regents Park Rangers, where Yasmin Pratt and Katie Cook both banked trebles, even though there was just a goal in it at the break.
Cardiff City LFC also hit six, with visiting Larkhall Athletic their victims.
Gillingham were the day’s top scorers with seven up at Southampton Saints. Fliss Gibbons got four, Charlotte Gurr a brace and Jay Blackie their other.
