A number of teams booked a place in their County Cup finals on Sunday, with Leicester City WFC winning through to not one but two big days.

Foxes out in force for finals

Leicester City WFC saw off Loughborough Foxes 3-0 to reach their county final, Leah Cudone’s first-half goal added to in the last 16 minutes through Ria Acton and Olivia Mitcham. In the other tie, AFC Leicester got the only goal of the game against Oadby & Wigston Dynamo.

Leicester City WFC Reserves netted a dozen times at Cosby United to cruise into the Plate final. They will now face Loughborough Foxes DS, who fought back from 2-1 down to win 5-2 at Lutterworth Athletic. Tiana Hicks hit a hat-trick, Nicki Russell and Lucy Coppin one each for the victors.

The Cup final will be played at Holmes Park on 10th April, with the Plate final taking place on 6th April.

Hoddesdon to make Herts final debut

Hoddesdon Town Owls

Hoddesdon Town Owls made the Hertfordshire Cup final for the first time in their history after beating Beds & Herts League leaders St Albans 5-2. Natasha Crick bagged a brace, Kristina O’Connell, Rosy Wodhams and Charley Handley one apiece, while Ellie Lovelock and Jordan Williamson were on target for the visitors.

Stevenage followed the Owls through when they defeated Eastern League outfit Royston Town 3-0. Ashleigh Deacon, Leah Littlechild and a Chloe Gunn penalty sealed the FAWPL team’s progress to the final on 11th March at Letchworth.

Penalties see Mossley past Merseyrail

In the Liverpool Senior Cup, Mossley Hill Athletic had to fight back with goals from Paige Morgan and Caroline Charlton to force penalties against North West League underdogs Merseyrail Bootle, for whom Jessica Hindley and Sophie Perry netted. The FAWPL side edged the shoot-out 6-5 with Justine Elliott making two crucial saves.

Mossley’s opponents for the cup will be Liverpool Marshalls Feds, who last week stuck a dozen goals past Burscough Dynamo.

Elsewhere, Buxton were 2-0 winners at Matlock Town in the Derbyshire Plate semi-finals, while Wirksworth Colts had a walkover against Glossop North End.
