Leeds say that Petkova (pictured above) joins them from NSA Sofia and the 22 year-old midfielder boasts bags of European and International experience. She has competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, as well as playing for her country at U-17, U-19 and then at senior level.
She has won three domestic titles and was also ranked seventh in the world in the Freestyle Championships.
Petkova believes that this is an exciting adventure, she says; “I am very happy to be at Leeds and want to win lots and lots of trophies.”
Manager Lewis Atkinson added “I am happy that Leeds has been able to sign a player whom we first met in April. Simona has extensive experience playing in Europe and for both club and country. I am excited to work with Simona and looking forward to her settling in well with the rest of the squad.”
Bethan Davies (pictured above) saved a penalty from England’s Karen Carney as London Bees beat Chelsea on Saturday.
She graduated from Cambridge Centre of Excellence and played for London Bees for two years before deciding to relocate to Yorkshire to study History at University.
For her there was no other club to sign for; “I am so excited to start this new chapter of my life and for me Leeds is the greatest place to do it,” said Davies.
Atkinson added; “It is amazing to welcome a player of Beth’s calibre, her experience will enrich the squad.”
