Lauren James returns to England training ahead of Euro 2025

The Lionesses have been boosted by the return of Lauren James to their squad this week, with the Chelsea forward spotted in training ahead of Euro 2025.

When the England squad arrived at St. George’s Park this week, everyone was looking out for an update on Lauren James with the hopes that she is on track to feature in Switzerland this summer.

In the first videos of the Lionesses training this week James was immediately spotted which certainly boosts their chances of winning back to back European Championships.

James was training with the other forwards in the squad, which shows that she could be fully fit in time for England’s first game of the tournament against France on July 5th.

Lauren James returns from hamstring injury

When Sarina Wiegman selected her Euros squad at the start of June there was always an attached risk with selecting James, who hasn’t featured in a game since December.

Despite the risk, Wiegman decided to take a chance on the forward who could be England’s secret weapon this year as the Lionesses look to retain a historic Euros title.

James stunned the nation in her first senior tournament for England and when she was given her big chance at the 2023 World Cup, the 23-year-old grabbed it with both hands.

England’s new starlet scored three goals and picked up three assists from her five games and was without a doubt the best attacker to play under Wiegman in the competition.

Her prolific form has turned heads since England last won the Euros but it isn’t just James’ international career that had former Lionesses urging Wiegman to take a chance on the Chelsea star’s fitness this summer.

In 2023/24 James managed 13 goals in just 16 games as Chelsea were crowned WSL champions. This season James has been much quieter due to her struggles with injury and after being ruled out in December with a hamstring injury she didn’t play another game.

England have an even better shot at winning the Euros this summer should James make a full recovery before the tournament and the best UK betting sites already price the Lionesses at 4/1 to win back to back titles.
