London Bees banked their first win of the season, thanks to Destiney Toussaint’s goal with virtually the last kick of the game against mid-table Oxford United.

London Bees 2-1 Oxford United (Att: 178)

London Bees took only 4 minutes to open the scoring, as Paula Howells buried a free kick from 25 yards out.

Kayleigh Hines was wide for the visitors with a free header but after Destiney Toussaint forced a fine save from Oxford’s Demi Lambourne, a Hines effort was spilled by Nicola Hobbs and United were level after 23 minutes.

When Emma Beckett headed on a Toussaint cross, Evie Clarke hit the Oxford bar and Beckett’s follow up volley went wide.

Oxford then found the net through Chloe Chivers but the ball had been adjudged to have already gone out of play.

Five minutes into the second half and Lambourne tipped a Toussaint strike over the top and shortly afterwards her opposite number also saved well, Hobbs turning one clear of the bar.

Clarke had an effort parried by Lambourne, while with 3 minutes left Hobbs made saves from Hines and then Corinne Yorston.

United threatened again in stoppage-time but were thwarted by Rosie Lane, before Toussaint slid in to score the winner.
