Kirsty Howat agrees Rangers Women move for 2021

Kirsty Howat has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Rangers FC Women from Glasgow City in 2021.

The 23-year-old forward was top scores in the SBS SWPL 1 last year with 24 goals.

Head Coach, Malcolm Thomson, told rangers.co.uk: “This is a significant moment for us as we manage to secure the league’s top scorer which will add terrific firepower to our already excellent front line.

“Kirsty is a top player with a very bright future and we believe the high-performance environment we have now at Rangers, which is unique in Scotland, will allow her to develop even further. With the likes of Zoe Ness, Brogan Hay and Megan Bell already at the club Kirsty will add to the competition for places and ensure we drive standards every day.”

In a further announcement, 21-year-old midfielder Sam Kerr has also made a pre-contract agreement to leave Glasgow City for Rangers.

Women’s and Girls’ Football Manager, Amy McDonald commented: “The signing of a high profile player such as Sam will continue the growth and progress of women’s football at Rangers and demonstrates our aspirational desire to create a team which is successful domestically and in Europe . We are relentless in continuing to develop our women’s model and have more exciting announcements for the very near future.”
