The combative central midfielder last season led Brighton to the FAWPL South title before leaving the club in April, a month prior to them securing promotion to the WSL.
Blackie says she is excited to get training and playing again after months out and has just one aim for the upcoming season: “I want to win it; I want to win the league again and get into the WSL next year.”
She added: “It’s just great to touch a ball, it’s great to be in with players and playing with people. It’s nice to be in a new environment, new targets with new people.
“It’s a new chapter for me. Charlton I think are the next strongest team in the league [after Brighton last season] and moving forwards this year probably the strongest team in the league. There’s a few other signings and I really think we can do well.”
Blackie had spent two seasons in Sussex, scoring 10 goals in 38 league appearances as the Seagulls beat Charlton to the FAWPL title by just two points.
Before that, the 28-year-old, who began her career at Charlton, played for Kent rivals Gillingham, where she made 40 appearances scoring five goals.
Now in her third spell with Charlton, she has also represented Millwall Lionesses, West Ham United, Ebbsfleet United and Crystal Palace.
Blackie believes the familiarity she has with her new team mates, having “played with them or against them all [her] life” will make it easier to hit the ground running.
“I know a lot of the girls here [already] and it’s always been a very intense battle when we meet each other,” she continued. “We already know the way each other play so to put it together will be easier than going to put it together with strangers.
“I’ve really enjoyed it two and a bit weeks in; I’m getting on with the girls a lot more than I thought I would do straight away and getting on with Jeremy [Parsons, first team manager] and Paddy [Horgan, strength and conditioning coach] and the other guys.
“I can’t wait for a pre-season friendly – I just want to play a game against somebody as a team. I’m so looking forward to that side of it, I keep texting Sue [Prior, club secretary] about it!

Blackie, who is currently studying for her UEFA ‘A’ License, will also take charge of the club’s U-14 side within the Regional Talent Centre umbrella.
