Republic of Ireland Women’s team manager Vera Pauw has appointed Eileen Gleeson as her assistant and Jan Willem van Ede to the role of goalkeeping coach.

Pauw has made the appointments ahead of her first game in charge when the Ukraine visit Tallaght Stadium for a vital Euro 2021 qualifier on 8 October.

Holder of a UEFA Pro Licence, former Peamount United and UCD Waves boss Gleeson will begin work immediately with Pauw who is set to name her first provisional squad next week.

Van Ede, who will meet up with the squad for the first time next month, previously worked with the Dutch national team for 11 years, including with Pauw, and is a former goalkeeper with FC Utrecht and PSV and played professionally for 22 years.

“We are delighted with these appointments,” FAI High Performance Director Ruud Dokter told fai.ie.

“Eileen knows the Ireland players and the Irish game inside out and has a proven record at the highest level. Jan has worked extensively with Vera and will bring great experience to his role.”
