Norway put an end to Wales’ Euro 2017 qualification hopes after grabbing a 2-0 win against Wales on June 7 at Newport Stadium but Jayne Ludlow is keen to build the squad through the remaining fixtures.
Wales boss Jayne Ludlow commented “I was pleased with the team’s performance against Norway back in June. It was a tough fixture but the girls executed for the 70 minutes but a loss of concentration for a few seconds against top level opponents cost us. The development of the team and individuals within the group has been pleasing since the turn of the year and there is a great belief and team spirit within the squad so we are looking forward to every fixture we play.
“The friendly against Republic of Ireland will be a great opportunity to continue our development. The fact that we have two games in quick succession will allow us to give competitive game time to a large number of the squad which includes some talented younger players coming through the system.”
