Ipswich continue to disappoint in Championship despite picking up first point

Ipswich have continued to disappoint fans this season and they remain winless in the Championship after their first three games.

Joe Sheehan’s team did pick up their first point over the weekend following a goalless draw against Charlton.

Hopes were high for Ipswich at the start of this season after they were promoted to WSL2 ahead of the new campaign.

Despite the team breezing to promotion after winning the Premier Division south last year, Ipswich have received a harsh reality check to kick off life in the Championship.

The Blues remain winless after three games with losses to Southampton and Nottingham Forest followed by a goalless draw against Charlton over the weekend.

“Southampton was an eye opener, it gave us a good indication of the level despite a difficult scoreline,” said Ipswich boss Joe Sheehan.

“Nottingham Forest are a really good team, but we reduced the score deficit to just one, and today marks another sign of progress, we’ve managed to come here and keep a clean sheet, get ourselves a point on the board.”

Where is it all going wrong for Ipswich?

Ipswich remain the only team in WSL2 to have not scored a goal after the first three weeks. The Blues are now facing a relegation battle and are favourites to go down according to UK betting sites.

Although the start of this season has been bleak for the Suffolk-based outfit, all hope isn’t lost.

With just three games played there is plenty of time for Ipswich to turn their form around and Sheehan is already looking forward to the next month of games.

“The passion and and enthusiasm to keep moving forwards and progressing, and giving ourselves more chances of winning games, is something we’ll be looking at over the next week or two.”

The Blues play Leicester City next in the League Cup this week before what should be a much easier test against Portsmouth  in WSL2 next week.
