REVEALED: Eye-watering sum it’ll cost England stars to get loved ones to Euro 2025 after Stanway’s admission

After Georgia Stanway admitted that the England players may have to pay for their families and friends to come support in Switzerland this summer, we take a look at how much a trip to Euro 2025 might cost.

What did Georgia Stanway say?

In a startling admission just weeks before the tournament, Lioness star Georgia Stanway revealed that England players will have to cover the costs if they are to help their families attend Euro 2025 to watch them play.

While it usually expected for the FA to help accommodate with this sort of thing, players are now instead expected to dip into their own pockets if they are to bring their loved ones to games.

Stanway said: “I’m aware that Switzerland is a very expensive country. Even just for flights and hotels. The cost of living there is extremely high so we understand the demand on fans.

“That is difficult for us as well because we want to help and support as much as possible, even with our own families.”

The 26-year-old added: “A lot of us are putting our hands in our pockets to make sure that our families can get over there. We would love to see as many fans as possible and we want to thank them in advance because we know it’s not cheap.”

Where is Euro 2025?

Euro 2025 will be hosted by Switzerland this summer and as one of the most expensive countries in the world to live in, a trip to the tournament could cost a fortune.

The eight host cities for the Euros are Basel, Bern, Geneva, Zurich, St. Gallen, Lucerne, Sion and Thun.

According to the Cost of Living Index for 2025, four of the host cities rank in the top 10 for most expensive places to live with Zurich, Geneva, Basel and Bern all costly.

England will be playing in Zurich and St. Gallen during the group stage this year and while the tournament is very accessible, the high costs while actually in Switzerland could put fans off going this year.

How much will tickets cost at Euro 2025?

The cheapest tickets available for Euro 2025 are the group stage category two tickets, starting at a price of 25 Swiss Franc – which translates roughly to around £25.

Currently the most expensive ticket available at the tournament is not a knockout game, with Switzerland’s opener surprisingly taking the title.

The hosts face off against Norway at St. Jakob-Park on July 2nd with tickets on sale for approximately £95.

For the knockout stages ticket prices are fairly reasonable, with category two tickets available for the quarters and semis for just £25. For those looking for a better seat in the knockout rounds, category one tickets range up to £75.

The Euro 2025 final will set fans back £100 for category one tickets, however there are still seats available for as low as £33.

Flights to Zurich

England will set up base camp in Zurich for the tournament where they play two group stage games with the third being played in St. Gallen.

If Georgia Stanway’s admission of the players paying for family to come and support this summer is true, then they will be looking at flights to Zurich from the beginning of July.

A flight from London to Zurich on July 1st will cost around £150 for two people (assuming it is the parents that players are paying for), with the return trip to England costing slightly more.

Should England be shocked in the group stage by an early exit, they would be out of the tournament by July 13th. A flight home on the 13th costs £120 per person, but as one of the group favourites it would be a surprise to see friends and family heading home that early.

Zurich flights

Returning home after the final (should England make a second consecutive appearance) would be slightly cheaper, with most airlines selling tickets for just under £80.

How much will hospitality cost England fans during Euro 2025?

While the flights to Switzerland aren’t too bad for the Euros in July, finding a place to stay during the tournament is a whole other challenge in itself.

A basic hotel in Zurich for the duration of the group stage (2nd-13th July) is anything but cheap. Prices for an 11-day stay in Zurich vary but to stay in the city, fans will be paying between £1,000 and £1,300 for just one room.

Zurich hotels

With the final group stage game played in St. Gallen, it is likely that players’ families will make the short one hour journey by public transport or car just for the day.

Including flights and matchday tickets, players could be splashing out over £2,000 to put up just two family members in the group stage alone, but that doesn’t include the knockouts which England are predicted to go far in.

The further England go in the tournament, the more players will have to fork out for families and with more travelling involved during the latter stages of the Championship it could become a very expensive trip.

Where to buy Euro 2025 tickets

Euro 2025 tickets have been on sale for some time now, with UEFA releasing them on a first-come, first-served basis in December last year once all the teams had qualified.
