Hibernian Women go top of SWPL with 97th-minute winner

Hibernian won 1-0 away to Glasgow City in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League to go top by two points.

Championship Group

Glasgow City 0-1 Hibernian
Hearts 3-1 Celtic
Motherwell 0-8 Rangers

The dramatic late goal came when Stacy Papadopoulos hit the underside of the crossbar and Kirsty Morrison followed up to turn in the loose ball.

Rangers moved into second spot with four goals in each half at Motherwell. Katie Wilkinson hit a hat-trick, there were doubles by Camile Lafaix and Kirsty Howat plus a Rio Hardy penalty.

Celtic are four points off the top two following a 3-1 loss to Hearts, who now sit just two points behind the Hoops. Emma Brownlie headed the hosts into an early lead and three goals followed in ten second-half minutes. Georgia Timms doubled the lead, Saoirse Noonan swiftly hit back with an overhead kick, only for Timms to restore the two-goal cushion.

Relegation Group

Aberdeen 2-0 Dundee United
Montrose 2-0 Partick Thistle
Queen’s Park 0-2 Spartans

Aberdeen defeated Dundee United 2-0 on Friday evening at Pittodrie, Francesca Ogilvie heading them in front approaching the hour mark, before crossing for Hannah Stewart to nod in the Dons’ second goal.

Spartans won at Queen’s Park with a Hannah Jordan brace, her first a lob from distance, the second coming in the 90th minute.

Montrose defeated group leaders Partick Thistle, Holly Daniel’s opener added to by substitute Erin Henderson.

St Johnstone 0-0 Gartcairn
Kilmarnock 3-1 Rossvale
Hamilton Academical 6-0 Ayr United

Hamilton Academical hit Ayr United for six to stay top by as many points, Sophie Townsley featuring with a four-goal haul.

Kilmarnock are five points clear in second after a 3-1 defeat of Rossvale in which Cara Gray scored twice, together with Boroughmuir Thistle’s 2-2 draw with Livingston. Thistle were 2-0 down but Becky Galbraith struck twice to wipeout the deficit.

St Johnstone and visitors Gartcairn played out a goalless game.
