Yeovil manager Jamie Sherwood told yeoviltownladies.com: “This news is bitter sweet for me as I have been a big admirer of Wardie since her days at Watford. I have been really excited to see Wardie play in a green and white shirt and in addition working with our younger strikers and helping the club establish themselves in WSL 1.
“The news for her and Matt is fantastic that they will be adding a brother or sister to Emily and making their family even more special.
“I can assure all that Wardie will return and we will be working with her and our Medical and Sports Science team to make sure that we can support her in anyway possible and I know I will be at the front of queue to speak with her when she is ready to return.
New mum to be Helen Ward said “We are obviously very excited about the news as are the whole family, however it is also sad for me that I won’t be able to play in the Spring.
“All that this wonderful club have done for me has been absolutely spot on from the players to the management and those higher up. I am so grateful for that and I can’t wait to cheer them all on over the next few months.”
