Two-goal Zoëy Shaw helped Glossop North End to a 4-1 Derbyshire League Cup win over Castle Donnington recently and her side have just gone on to complete a League and Cup double, so we found out a little more.
SK: Can you tell me a little of your personal footballing history?
ZS: I have played football most of my life for Tameside, Stockport then Everton before joining Glossop as a player, then player/coach. I’m a level 2 [coach] and completed all modules 1, 2 and 3, now looking to start my UEFA B. I also manage Glossop U-10 girls.

SK: You’ve had some mixed results against Castle Donnington, so were you unsure what to expect in the final?
ZS: Yes, playing them so many time prior to the final was interesting. We came out on top on both league games but that didn’t change our mindset for the final, as you play the occasion and on their day they are a strong team. Our aim was to give a good account of ourselves and play good football, I think we did that and it was a great result in the end for us.
SK: It’s virtually a league and cup double now isn’t it?
ZS: Yes it’s very much in our hands now, having won the cup last week the league is ours for the taking.
Glossop sealed the Derbyshire League title on Sunday with a 2-0 victory at LFC Buxton, where Kirsty Ditchfield and April Smith were the scorers.
SK: Has it proved quite a competitive battle for the Division 1 championship?
ZS: Yes it’s not been easy at all, there are some good strong teams in this division who put up a fight everytime we play them. I think the way we have approached every training session and game has changed, we are fully focused and fully fit every week.

SK: Do you intend to take the step up into the Regional Leagues?
ZS: This is something that needs more thought from the club as a whole, we have a lot of U-16 players breaking through, so we need to do what’s best for their development and progression.
