Newry Overturn Cliftonville Fightback
Newry’s Elenize Belem glanced in the opener from a corner and City doubled the lead following up a save, Rauza de Souza with time to control before tapping in.
The home side were back in front after a Marissa Callaghan cut back brought a side-foot finish from Billie Simpson and the scores were levelled from a half-volley by Eirinn Canavan on the angle, 12 yards from goal.
After the break, a curling 20-yard effort from Leah McEvoy dropped under the bar to give Cliftonville the lead, however, a good through ball brought a smart Moya Feehan strike to make it 3-3.
Kate Flood’s whipped cross was then controlled perfectly and slotted home by Patricia Da Silva to put City back in front.
Unable to clear a corner, Cliftonville were punished by Jaqueline Gomes and Newry then added a sixth with a Celine Curtis shot under the keeper.
McGuiness Hat-Trick Sinks Swifts
Linfield took the lead when a deep cross saw a Lauren Robson header hit the roof of the net but Sion Swifts got in on goal to fire across the keeper for the equaliser.
The home side regained the advantage with a ball into the six-yard box turned home by Kirsty McGuiness and she struck again with a good finish inbetween two defenders to make it 3-1.
When a defensive block fell kindly, the loose ball was fired in for the fourth goal by Megan Bell and the scoring was completed from a McGuiness free-kick in a central position, just outside the area for her hat-trick.
Glens Get Five
Glentoran went in just one goal up at Ballymena through Nadene Caldwell and their second followed Rachel Rogan’s flick onto the bar, with the ball rebounding in off the unfortunate keeper’s knee.
It was 3-0 on the follow up by Gail Redmond after the goalie blocked the first effort, a deep free-kick was then headed in by Makyla Mulholland for 4-0 and the best was left until last, as the same player hit a 35-yard strike over the keeper.
Crusaders Strikers were given a bye through to the semi-finals.
