Scottish champions prepare to travel to London tomorrow ahead of their away 1st leg last 16 Champions League match against Arsenal on Saturday.
Glasgow City head to Heathrow tomorrow on the 9.30am British Airways flight ahead of their tough 1st leg last 16 Champions League match on Saturday against former Champions League winners, Arsenal.
The London giants have been a powerhouse in the women’s game for many years and have never failed to reach the Quarter Finals of the Champions League in their 11 years of being in the competition.
In the last two successive seasons they have reached the semi-finals and Glasgow City Head Coach, Eddie Wolecki Black, is well aware of the challenge facing his side.
He said, “We are looking forward to the tie. It is a great achievement for our club to be involved in the last 16 of the Champions League for the second time in 3 years. We have gone through our preparation and we know it is going to take a lot of hard work. Now it is up to the players and I can only ask that they do what we have asked of them tactically and perform to the best of their ability.”
The away match will kick off at 1pm at The Hive Stadium, the home of Barnet FC on Saturday. Full match commentary can be followed on Glasgow City FC twitter @GlasgowCityFC
City’s return leg is on Wednesday 13th November at their home ground of Petershill Park in Springburn, Glasgow. Seated tickets are sold out ahead of the match but standing tickets remain, priced £5 adults, £3 kids and can be purchased online via the Glasgow City website www.glasgowcityladiesfc.co.uk or from Greaves Sports retail outlets on Gordon Street and Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow City Centre.
