Less than a month before the FIFA Women’s World Cup begins, Germany’s penultimate warm-up game was a narrow 2-1 win over Vietnam.

In front of 13,652 spectators in Offenbach, Paulina Krumbiegel gave the hosts a third-minute when turning home Nicole Anyomi’s pass.

While Melissa Kössler twice missed opportunities to extend the lead over World Cup finals debutants Vietnam, Merle Frohms denied both Hai Yen Pham and Thi Van Duong a first-half equaliser.

Janina Minge came on as a substitute and got her first international goal in the 80th minute, to give Germany a two-goal cushion.

Frohms prevented Thi Hoa Vu from pulling one back but in added time Thi Thanh Nha Nguyen scored a fine consolation goal.
