London City Lionesses have signed Georgia Brougham on a one-year contract following the defender’s departure from Leicester City.

The 27-year-old has also played for Manchester City, spent five years at Everton and two loans to Birmingham City.

Brougham told londoncitylionesses.com: “The girls have been great, they’ve really welcomed me in, and I’m really excited for the season to start.

“The coaching staff played a massive part [in my decision to join London City]. After speaking with them and seeing their vision for the Club, I felt that this would be the best environment for me.

“I’d like to say that I’m very composed. I like to build from the back and would describe myself as a ball-playing defender.”

Assistant Coach Nicola Williams added: “Georgia is a very experienced defender who joins from Leicester City. She comes with a lot of knowledge from the WSL, where she has trained in high-level environments and will be able to help us in that area.

“Georgia is an aggressive defender who reads the game well. I worked with her at Leicester [City] last season and found her to be very attentive in the sessions and that she had lots of questions about different scenarios on the field.”
