Barroso already has many years experience with the Argentina national team, following her progression from the U-17s and U-20s. She also won the Argentina women’s player of the year in 2014.
She moves to Fylde following a spell at Brazil’s Ferroviária, winners of the Libertadores Cup, for whom she had signed after her performance in the competition a year earlier with Argentina’s UAI Urquiza, who finished third.
Fylde Manager Luke Swindlehurst said; “I’m absolutely delighted that we have managed to secure a full international and bringing in a defender with experience from the highest level is a very exciting for us. It’s a sign of things to come and I’m sure this will be a big step in the right direction. She can speak English, which is of huge benefit to us and we’ll be hoping she adjusts to life in England quickly.
“She is a quick, tough-tackling defender and very good positional sense so I’m sure with Agus on board we will have a solid foundation to build from. Keeping clean sheets is crucial and when you have a player of proven quality at the back, it can only help your chances.”
Agus commented; “I’m very happy to play in Fylde Ladies, it’s one of the most important experiences in my career and I’ll give my best for my new team.”
