Freya Godfrey of London City Lionesses has received her debut call-up to the England senior squad.

Sarina Wiegman named her squad for two forthcoming friendly matches – against China and Ghana – with the 20-year-old forward the newest name, progressing from the under-23s.

Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp and Grace Clinton return to the squad after injury.

And recent fresh faces Sophie Baggaley, Anouk Denton, Grace Fisk, Taylor Hinds and Lucia Kendall all retain their places in the squad after their call-ups in the October window.

Absentees include the injured Michelle Agyemang, Alex Greenwood, Hannah Hampton and Leah Williamson.

Jess Carter remains in the USA as her club Gotham FC participate in the NWSL play-off final for the championship this coming weekend, and she will then take time off to recover.

And Chelsea’s Lauren James also misses out as she continues her progress to full match fitness.

England play China at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 29th November, and then face Ghana at St Mary’s on Tuesday, 2nd December.

England have had unforgettable year: Wiegman

Sarina Wiegman said in a statement released to the media: “It’s been another unforgettable year and we’re looking forward to finishing it in the right way with these final two matches of the ‘Homecoming Series’. We will have the chance to celebrate our successes in front of our supporters but we’re also fully focused on our objective to qualify for the World Cup.

“With competitive fixtures in March, April and June 2026 these games against non-European opposition will give us some important learnings and development opportunities. It’s another very important window for us to work hard with the players and try different things.

“To play in front of over 80,000 at Wembley is something that we will never ever take for granted. We thank the fans for their truly incredible support, both at home and abroad, throughout 2025.”
