France And North Korea Reach U-20 Final

North Korea accounted for three-time winners USA to make it to the final for a third time themselves.

Jon So Yun opened the scoirng early in the second half with a penalty, only for Natalie Jacobs to equalise in the last minute.

The Koreans restored their advantage seconds into the extra half-hour, as Ri Hyang Sim slotted home what proved to be the winning goal.

France were victorious by a similar margin over Japan, after a goalless 90 minutes, to qualify for the final for the first time.

Marion Romanelli’s cross on 99 minutes was headed in by Clara Mateo and Juliane Gathrat soon fired home the second.

Gathrat did then concede a spot-kick and although Yuka Momiki’s strike was initially saved by Mylene Chavas, the keeper then knocked ball over the line in an attempt to retrieve it.

The final matches take place on Saturday 3rd December at the Papua New Guinea National Football Stadium in Port Moresby. The third place play-off between USA and Japan is at 6am (UK time), followed by France versus North Korea at 9.30am.
