Sheffield United have completed the transfer of goalkeeper Fran Stenson from Arsenal after the 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with the Blades.
A former England youth team goalkeeper, Stenson has also played for Birmingham City, Manchester City, as well as loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and Brighton.
A commanding presence between the sticks, Stenson became a regular starter for Sheffield, keeping several clean sheets, including impressively against champions Bristol City, as well as Southampton, in the final month of the Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
Stenson said: “I’m really excited. After I signed last season I knew where I wanted to be and I’m glad to finally get it done.
“The trust he club put into me last season, hopefully I repaid that in my performances and I’m excited for hopefully even bigger and better things this season.”
Head coach Jonathan Morgan commented: “It’s great to get Fran back. I was really pleased Fran bought into the project during her spell her last season and that was a big part in her staying. From my point of view, it’s fantastic to have a goalkeeper of her pedigree who was so instrumental in our upturn in form towards the end of last season.”
