There were penalty shoot-out dramas in 14 of the Women’s FA Cup Third Round Qualifying ties, while Northampton Town won a twelve-goal thriller.

Needham Market goalkeeper Evie Kane kept a clean sheet as her side progressed 3-0 on penalties, following a 1-1 deadlock at home to Royston Town.

Fifth-tier Fulham won 4-3 on spot-kicks following a 1-1 tied game at tier four side Actonians.

National League Northampton were pushed all the way by Regional League visitors Coventry Sphinx, before the Cobblers eventually emerged 7-5 victors aided by a Jade Bell hat-trick.

Maddie Wilson came off the bench to not only level but then fire Rotherham United into the first round proper, after visitors Long Itchington overturned Jessie Broadhurst’s opener to lead 2-1 at the interval.

Lichfield City threatened an upset against Lincoln City but despite a Tilly Astell treble and 3-1 deficit, the Red Imps fought back for a 4-3 win as Toni McHamilton’s second goal proved to be the winner.

There were double-figure wins for Leek Town, Peterborough United, Millwall Lionesses, Abingdon United and AFC Bournemouth.

All postponed ties will be played next Sunday, 29 October, while the 1st Round Proper draw will see the FAWNL Northern and Southern Premier Division sides enter the competition.
