Four Teams, Two Spots Left

The field for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ is nearly complete, with one European play-off place and another between North and South Americas to be confirmed.

It will come down to four teams to decide the final two spots for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™: either Italy or Netherlands for one spot and either Ecuador or Trinidad and Tobago for the other.

The two spots will be decided in late November and early December, shortly before the Official Draw on 6 December divides the 24 finalists into six groups. As of 29 November, 22 of the 24 finalists have been determined.

The UEFA playoff will be a home-and-away series, with the first match to be played 22/23 November and the second match to be played 26/27 November. To reach the UEFA final round, Italy eliminated Ukraine while Netherlands eliminated Scotland.

In the CONCACAF-CONMEBOL playoff, the first match will be 8 November in Ecuador while the second match will be 2 December in Trinidad and Tobago.

From 129 competing nations, only 24 finalists will participate at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™. The Official Draw, which will feature representatives and head coaches from all 24 teams, will take place on 6 December in Canada’s National Capital Region.
