The USA Cup organisers are asking if any female referees would be interested in taking part in their tournament, as they could do with more.
The USA Cup is an annual youth tournament held at the National Sports Centre, Blaine, Minnesota with its 31st year in July 2015. The NSC has 50 football pitches plus a number of other facilities.
You leave on Wednesday 8th July and depart for home on Sunday 19th July 2015. The organisers will assist you with your flight bookings.
The tournament includes boys and girls teams aged in each year from U-9 to U-19 and come from many countries, e.g. USA, Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, Uganda and Japan.
Referees are also from all around the world, with referees from USA, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Brazil, UK, Norway, Italy, Romania and China in 2014. Referee levels range from England level 7 to FIFA Referee, both male and female. You could find yourself doing a game with a FIFA official, even as assistant to you, as Shayna did in a Cup Final with a Chinese FIFA Referee as an assistant.
To attend, you must be at least 17 years old on 1st July 2015, have refereed for at least 18 months, doing a minimum of 15 games as referee and 5 as assistant each season, as when there you might do more games as assistant than referee according to your level.
You will stay on site at the National Sports Centre in 4-bed dormitory rooms, with 3 meals a day, costing $38/day that is deducted from your match fees. You get your net payment after the tournament.
When there you will be doing a number of games each day and doing the normal number each day will more than cover your accommodation costs.
It will be an enjoyable event for you, as you will have the opportunity to referee teams from different countries as well as work with colleagues from different countries. This can be highly beneficial for your refereeing development.
