Remi Allen levelled in stoppage-time to earn Aston Villa a Barclays FA Women’s Super League point at West Ham.
Adrian Leon took advantage of a seventh-minute mistake by Anita Asante to give West Ham the lead and an untimely slip by the Canadian perhaps saved Aston Villa from going two down early on.
Emily Gielnik forced a save from Mackenzie Arnold as Villa eventually threatened and from the resulting corner, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah couldn’t make the connection that might have brought the scores level.
Dagny Brynjarsdottir’s close range header from Leon’s cross was straight at goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, after which the visitors went close to equalising a few times.
Arnold saved on the line from Remi Allen and pushed a Shania Hayles strike round the post, Ramona Petzelberger hitting the post in-between.
Although no leveller had come going into added time, Allen took the chance to head home from the edge of the six-yard box.
