Sunday 23rd April
FA PREMIER LEAGUE PLATE FINAL
Huddersfield Town v Lewes (Brackley Town FC, 3pm)
RESERVE CUP FINAL
Tottenham Hotspur Res v Blackburn Rovers Res (Brackley Town FC, 11am)
It’s a case of North v South in both Sunday’s finals, which are being played at the National League North ground of Northamptonshire side Brackley Town FC.
The Plate bringing together ninth-placed Huddersfield Town and Lewes in sixth.
Huddersfield hit Actonians 6-1 in the semi-finals, aided by an Emily Heckler hat-trick, while Georgia Bridges got the only goal of the game away at Leicester City Women.
Lewes had scored six themselves in the quarter-finals away to Luton Town but the Terriers went one better at Tranmere Rovers, including another Heckler treble.
Huddersfield had begun in the first round with a 6-2 win at Sporting Khalsa….you can guess by now who scored half their tally.
The next two rounds provided stiffer away tests and both in Yorkshire, as they edged both Guiseley Vixens and Bradford City on penalties.
Lewes had had a much more straightforward path to the last eight, a bye followed by walkovers against Maidenhead United and St Nicholas.
While Reserve Cup holders won their way back into the final with an extra-time Ellie Doggett goal against Middlesbrough. Tottenham Hotspur had to replay their 4-0 victory at MK Dons, the second time going through by the narrower margin of 3-2.
Spurs were 3-2 winners oer Derby County in the quarter-finals, with Rovers 2-1 extra-time victors at Cardiff City.
Blackburn had begun their defence of the trophy with a 2-1 Lancashire derby success at Fylde, afterwhich they eliminated Coventry United 3-0.
Spurs put out Portsmouth 5-1 in the 1st Round and followed that up with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace – the side that knocked them out last time.
A win for either side on Sunday would mean a League and Cup double, as Blackburn and Tottenham are Northern and Southern Reserve Division champions respectively.
