Axten penalty treble secures second for Foxes
Leicester City WFC sealed the Northern runners-up spot by beating Bradford 4-1. Rosie Axten hit a hat-trick of penalties and Leigh Dugmore got the Foxes other goal, the Bantams having equalised earlier.
Middlesbrough had to settle for third after going down 3-2 to champions Blackburn. Boro went 2-0 up through Emma Foster and Tyler Dodds but a Natasha Fenton cross went straight in, Natasha Flint headed Rovers level and Saffron Jordan netted a 79th-minute winner.
Stoke made sure of fourth for a third consecutive year with four goals at Derby. Ashleigh Hayes scored twice and Ella Pemberton made it 3-0 on half time, before Hannah Keryakoplis followed up Hayes’ shot against the post to complete the scoring.
Guiseley escaped the drop zone on goal-difference from Wolves with a 2-1 Yorkshire derby defeat of Huddersfield. Nikki Berko got the Vixens’ first and after Ellie Olds hit the post Beth Stanfield turned in the rebound for the decider.
Hosts Nottingham Forest lost Kelly Derby to two yellow cards late on in a 5-0 defeat to Wolves. Anna Price, Billie Haynes and Jade Cross scored in the first 16 minutes, Chloe Williams and substitute Charlotte Criddle adding one each, the latter from the penalty spot.
Fylde fought back to finished fifth with a 2-1 win over West Brom, who were left in last place. Lucy Finch’s opener was cancelled out by an own-goal and the hosts got the winner 7 minutes from the end.
Coventry leapfrog Lewes
Southern Division winners Charlton finished eight points clear with a 4-1 scoreline over Chichester. Charlotte Gurr’s first half effort was added to by Kit Graham before City halved the deficit through Natasha Stevens. Gurr bundled the Addicks back into a two-goal lead and Graham then also completed her double.
Coventry pipped Lewes to fourth spot on goal-difference after battling back to beat them 2-1. Jade Formaston turned in a Nikki Miles cross in reply to Avilla Bergin’s ninth-minute goal and Lois Jefferies lobbed home the winner.
West Ham went up to seventh with a 7-1 thrashing of QPR in front of a four-figure crowd. Ellie Zoepfl scored three times, with singles by Rosie Kmita, Kelly Wealthall, Jasmine Auguste and a Rebecca Dunning penalty, while Helen Ogle got a consolation for Rangers.
Burton bag runners-up spot
Loughborough Foxes ended seventeen points ahead of the rest in Midlands Division 1 after a 4-2 result at Radcliffe. Rebecca Knight netted twice, Laura Steele and Jodie Bartle one apeice, with Rania Ramadan and Beth Bailey replying to keep Olympic in the game.
Burton were runners-up by a point at the first attempt after defeating Sporting Khalsa 4-2, Jordan Atkin with two, Hayleigh Sutton and Hannah Baines one each. Sheffield United had to settle for third despite a 6-1 success at Leicester City Ladies. There was a first goal in six years for the Blades’ Jorden Spurr, Tania Marsden was twice on target, Sophie Bell, Nat Shaw and Hollie Barker got one each.
Long Eaton’s 4-2 victory at Steel City made sure of a top-half finish for the first time. Solihull Moors won 2-1 at TNS with efforts from Ashlea Hargreaves and Phillippa Harmison. Birmingham & West Midlands climbed one to ninth with a 12-1 rout of Rotherham, as they helped captain Lucy Gimson end 22 years of competitive football with a goal. Charlie Fisher featured through with five, there was a Louise Price hat-trick, Katy Kirby brace, plus one for Katie Jennings.
Barnsley narrowly off the bottom
Hull netted nine times at Morecambe to finish four points in front of Brighouse in Northern Division 1, Rebecca Beech with four, Hope Knight with three as well as forcing an own-goal, Liberty Bott also getting in the scoresheet.
Brighouse’s Jodie Redgrave bagged a first-half brace for the runners-up in a 2-1 win at Mossley, who slipped into last place. Barnsley got off the bottom on goals scored after a 1-1 tie with Newcastle, Amy Woodruff putting them ahead before Rebecca Olley’s cross went in for the equaliser.
Liverpool Feds finished with nine players through injury and a red card for goalscorer Laure Bartup, as they won 1-0 at Chester-le-Street. Chorley’s 2-1 success against Bolton came after conceding first and saw them edge into the top half of the table. A draw for Crewe at Leeds was enough for them to take eighth spot, Alex were in front through Amanda Fallon but United’s Jenny Clark levelled with 4 minutes left.
MK Dons confirmed as champions
Milton Keynes Dons eased to the South East Division 1 title with thirteen goals at Haringey. Laura Mills and Kim Farrow both notched hat-tricks, Leah Cudone and Zoe Boote got a couple each, with one apiece for Leanna Doyle, Amy Gooderham and an own-goal. AFC Wimbledon missed out by five points after a 1-1 tie at Ipswich, where they led through a Catherine Bisson spot-kick before Zoe Cossey replied on 72 minutes.
Enfield held Orient to a goalless draw, Luton achieved fourth with a 3-2 victory at Norwich. Nicola Henman’s 30-yard chip was cancelled out by the Canaries but Jess McKay swiftly restored the advantage and Zara Carroll buried a free kick via the crossbar, after which Chelsea Garrett grabbed her second for City. Stevenage slipped to a 2-1 reverse at Denham, Kayleigh Corrivan scoring for United either side of a Donna McGuigan goal.
Plymouth celebrate promotion at Home Park
Plymouth’s made certain of promotion from the South West Division 1 with a 6-1 win over Poole at Home Park. Natasha Knapman got three goals, Kayley Lane two and Katie Middleton one as Argyle finished unbeaten, Rebecca Miles had earlier levelled for the Dorset side.
Southampton WFC won 3-1 at Cheltenham but have a far inferior goal-difference to Argyle. Laura Vokes scored twice before Annabel Davies got the Town goal and Sophie Solloway sealed the win with a long range strike.
Southampton Saints got the better of Keynsham by the odd goal in five, Catherine Browning, Krystal White and Libby O’Dell getting their goals before the visitors hit back twice. In the other match, Maidenhead and Brislington played out a goalless draw.
