FAWPL Northern Division title favourites, Blackburn Rovers, closed in on the top two when hitting neighbours Fylde for six, while Wolves came away from Derby County with a point.

Blackburn are now two points short of Leicester City WFC and four behind leaders Middlesbrough but with three games in hand on both of them.

Rovers were two up in 14 minutes as Saffron Jordan got the opener and then Ellie Cook forced an own-goal.

Natasha Flint netted the first of her hat-trick on 35 minutes, beating the defender and poking the ball past the out-rushing keeper before passing into a open goal.

The rest of the goals all came in the last 10 minutes, with Fylde pulling one back through Hannah Forster before Flint scored twice and Kaylea Cunliffe completed the scoring in added time.

Blackburn now turn their attention to the League Cup Final against Leicester at Chesterfield FC on Sunday.

Lowly Wolves lose lead

Wolves took the lead at Derby with a Jade Cross second-half finish past Sarah Morgan after a ball over the top.

The Rams replied through substitute Kirsty Allen, who hooked in at the back post to earn the hosts a draw which lifted them into seventh place.

Basement side Wanderers are now unbeaten in three games but six points from safety and with only three games to play, although the first of those is home to Guiseley Vixens who sit just above them.
