Charlton Coach Riteesh Mishra, winner of the FAWPL Northern & Southern Manager of the Month award for April, told cafc.co.uk he is looking forward to Sunday’s third successive clash with Spurs:

“It’s going to be a tough one and I think it’s going to be another great game.

“Every game we have played against them has had a different feel, but the same competitive edge, and this is arguably the biggest match between the two sides.”

“I’ve said previously, it’s been a difficult season and April’s all been about the girls’ character.

“Their ability to bounce back has been superb – twice coming from behind to beat the league champions and being victorious in the Capital Cup final.”

Tottenham were unbeaten this season until their SSE FA Cup exit at Arsenal and after clinching the league title, they suddenly suffered three straight defeats, the latest a 4-0 reverse at Cardiff.

Lucia Leon tweeted: “We have to forget about this game, we can’t dwell on today’s result with the FAWPL Cup Final looming”.

Maya Vio, who scored as Spurs beat Cardiff 2-1 in last year’s final, said: “I fully believe our team will come back fighting and use the losses to motivate us to win – we’ll go back to being us.

“We will work hard this week to ensure it’s us lifting up the trophy on Sunday.”
