FAWPL Crown And WSL Place Up For Grabs

Sunday 28th May
FA PREMIER LEAGUE
CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFF
Tottenham Hotspur v Blackburn Rovers (Charlton Athletic FC, 2pm)

The match will pitch the winners of the Northern and Southern Divisions against each other at The Valley, to determine the overall FA WPL champion.

That club will subsequently earn promotion to FA WSL 2, subject to meeting licence criteria.

Blackburn Unbeaten

Blackburn were unbeaten in clinching their league crown, only being denied victory on three occasions as they topped the table by eleven points.

Lancashire Cup winners, Rovers did lose out after extra-time in the semi-finals of the League Cup to Charlton Athletic, who Tottenham then edged on penalties in the final.

Psychological Advantage To Spurs?

The respective champions have met once this season in the SSE FA Cup 3rd Round, when a Bianca Baptiste brace gave Spurs victory at Blackburn, despite an early Ella Toone goal for Rovers.

Tottenham went on to eliminate WSL newcomers Brighton Hove Albion, before being sent to a crushing 10-0 defeat by Arsenal in round five.

Spurs eventually took the Southern Division by four points, their only defeats by Charlton and Cardiff City LFC coming after they had already sealed the title at White Hart Lane.

Spurs played the Addicks in three finals in total, winning the Ryman Cup but losing out in the Capital Cup.
