FAWNL: Magpies move back ahead of Feds into top spot

Newcastle United went top of the FA Women’s National League Division 1 North with a 3-0 victory over Chester le Street Town.

Northern Premier Division

Brighouse Town 3-1 Burnley (Att: 159)

Brighouse went within three points of sixth-placed Burnley with two games still in hand on them, Cara Fields followed up a header against the post to put Brighouse ahead, Issy Dean doubled the lead with a tap in via a free kick and Lucy Sowerby got a late third off the post, before Olivia Wilson’s consolation for the Clarets.

Division 1 Midlands

Sporting Khalsa 1-2 Boldmere St Michaels (Att: 40)

Boldmere lead the table by six points from Doncaster Rovers Belles but from one game more, having had to come from behind to win at Sporting Khalsa. Angie Morley’s opener was cancelled out before half time by Tanya Dickinson and Lois Jefferies netted the decider inside the final 20 minutes.

Division 1 North

Newcastle United 3-0 Chester le Street Town (Att: 169)

Newcastle United sent next-to-bottom Chester le Street to a 3-0 defeat to take back the leadership from Liverpool Feds, over whom they have a one-point advantage from one game more. Olivia Watt, Lauren Robson and Erin Nelson all found the net in the first half.
