Coventry United went six points clear at the top of the FAWNL Southern Premier with a 2-0 win over Oxford United, while Chorley got the only goal at Bolton Wanderers in Division 1 North.

Coventry stretched their lead over second-placed Cardiff City Ladies with five games remaining for each team after United beat fourth-in-the-table Oxford.

Beth Merrick played in Amber Hughes for a first-half opener, Hughes and Lois Jefferies combining after the interval to set up Merrick to score.

Eighth-placed Chorley moved four points ahead of hosts Bolton Wanderers with a narrow away victory.

Katy Morris’s first-half strike proved to be sufficient to take all three points.
