FAWNL: Cheltenham Town Ladies win Division 1 South West

Cheltenham Town sealed promotion to the FA Women’s National League top tier, Southampton FC need one more win to clinch the Southern Premier.

Northern Premier Division

Huddersfield Town 2-2 Loughborough Lightning (Att: 93)
Hull City 1-2 Derby County
Sheffield FC 0-2 Fylde
West Bromwich Albion 1-1 Middlesbrough (Att: 85)

Derby stayed in the runners-up position with a game to go, Fylde also won on the road to remain a point short of the Rams. Huddersfield were held at home by Loughborough but still edged into fourth spot, Armani Maxwell looked set to give Middlesbrough a crucial win in their battle to stay up but West Brom’s Hannah George levelled in stoppage time.

Southern Premier Division

Chichester & Selsey 3-0 Hounslow (Att: 92)
Ipswich Town 3-0 London Bees (Att: 302)
Southampton FC 6-1 Plymouth Argyle (Att: 377)

Lucia Kendall was twice on target as Southampton hit Plymouth for six to leave the Saints needing just one win from three to be champions. Ipswich beat London Bees 3-0 to stay in contention. Cherelle Khassal Emma Jones got second-half goals for a Portsmouth victory at Bridgwater, Chichester & Selsey still have a mathematical chance of staying up after defeating Hounslow.

Division 1 Midlands

Leafield Athletic 1-1 Long Eaton United
Wem Town 2-2 Burton Albion (Att: 63)
Peterborough United 0-4 Solihull Moors

Relegation-threatened pair Wem and Burton had to settle for a draw, Leafield are a point further from danger, Solihull won at Peterborough to leapfrog them into sixth spot.

Division 1 North

Durham Cestria 3-1 Bradford City (Att: 50)
FC United of Manchester 0-0 Chorley (Att: 200)
Liverpool Feds 5-0 Norton & Stockton Ancients (Att: 125)

Liverpool Feds hade five different scorers against Norton as they knocked Newcastle United off the top of the table. FC United got a precious point against Chorley but Barnsley threaten to drag them into the drop zone after beating Alnwick.

Division 1 South East

Harlow Town 1-2 Kent Football United
Norwich City 1-0 AFC Wimbledon (Att: 220)
Stevenage 2-2 Queens Park Rangers (Att: 75)

Norwich are staying up after an impressive win over Wimbledon, coupled with Stevenage’s draw against QPR which sent the Hertfordshire side down.

Division 1 South West

Cheltenham Town 3-1 Chesham United
Exeter City 5-0 AFC Bournemouth (Att: 181)
Portishead 0-2 Southampton Women

Lacy-Jai Liggett bagged a first-half brace to set up a title-winning result for Cheltenham Town. Exeter City had in any case ended Bournemouth’s hopes with a fantastic 5-0 victory.
