Sheffield United smashed their attendance record with 4,100 at Bramall Lane but Liverpool won the FA Women’s Championship clash.

The 2-0 win for the Reds sent them top of the table ahead of the rest of the weekend’s Championship fixtures on Sunday.

Charlotte Wardlaw fired the visitors in front after only seven minutes – her first goal for Liverpool.

Lucy Watson hit the side-netting for the Blades and an attempted Rachel Laws clearance went just wide being blocked by Courtney Sweetman-Kirk.

Leanne Kiernan doubled the lead before the break, heading home from a Rachel Furness cross.

Fran Kitching did well to deny Liverpool a third after the interval, saving from Taylor Hinds and also the follow-up from Kiernan.
