#FAWC: Crystal Palace Women go third

Crystal Palace went third in the FA Women’s Championship, Charlton Athletic beat second-placed London City Lionesses.

Coventry United 1-0 Durham
Sheffield United 1-3 Lewes
Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Crystal Palace
Charlton Athletic 2-0 London City Lionesses
Watford 0-3 Bristol City

Eagles flying high

Crystal Palace continued their good form with victory away at Blackburn, Bianca Baptiste got them in front in the opening five minutes.

Sophie McLean extended the Eagles’ advantage in the final ten minutes, Annabel Blanchard replying for Rovers but with time almost up.

Charlton win capital clash

Charlton Athletic defeated London City and Mia Ross gave them a great start, heading from a tenth-minute corner.

It was 2-0 early in the second half through an own goal, Harley Bennett heading past keeper Shae Yanez.

Coventry clinch first win

Coventry United got off the bottom on goal-difference following an impressive first win over Durham.

Rio Hardy hit a dramatic decider in the 86th minute, finding the top corner from the edge of the box.

Rooks beat Blades

Lewes returned from Sheffield United 3-1 victors, Ini Umotong sending them on their way when heading home a  Lucy Ashworth-Clifford cross.

Umotong combined with Freda Ayisi to set up Paula Howells to score, Ashworth-Clifford fired in the third before Althea Paul’s late consolation for the Blades.

Bristol unbeaten in five

Bristol City ran out 3-0 winners at Watford, Abi Harrison with the opener from the edge of the area.

Harrison turned provider for Chloe Bull before the break and Bull wrapped up the win with a half-volley after the interval.
