Reading FC Women’s Fara Williams will miss the remainder of the season following surgery to a thigh injury.

Pete Lion, the Head of Medicine and Performance at Reading FC Women, told readingfc.co.uk: “Unfortunately, Fara sustained a significant injury to her quadriceps muscle, where she pulled the tendon from the bone. This has been reattached … and she has commenced her rehabilitation.”

The 36-year-old, who recently signed an extension to her contract until June 2021, is expected to return for pre-season.

Meanwhile, two other injured Royals players, Jo Potter and Lauren Bruton, could feature before the end of the current campaign.
