All Saturday’s Cup ties went the way of the home teams, Sheffield United were run closest by Reading as Brogan Hughes and Jaycey Haynes scored for the Blades and Madison Perry for the Royals.
A battling Sunderland side bowed out 4-2 at Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City registered 3-0 victories over West Brom and York City respectively.
One tie in the Plate went to penalties as Oxford United edged out Leeds United, Lucy Trinder having earlier scored for the hosts.

Essex captain Amy Taylor scored all her team’s three goals in the 3-2 defeat of Durham, for the only away win among the eight ties.
Aston Villa sent Liverpool to a 7-2 loss and Wolves won 3-0 against Teesside Sport.
