The 2025-26 Women’s Super League season is now at the halfway stage and here SheKicks is compiling midseason report cards for each of the WSL teams and next up is Everton.

How have Everton started the WSL season?

Everton have taken two of the most impressive wins of the 2025-26 season, but they are their only two victories of the campaign.

The Toffees started the season with a 4-1 victory at the home of their local rivals Liverpool, thanks to a hat-trick from summer signing Ornella Vignola.

That result created optimism that the Toffees could have an impressive season.

However, Brian Sorensen’s side then failed to win any of their next eight matches, with defeats against Tottenham, London City, Brighton, both Manchester clubs and even handing West Ham their first win of the season.

Sorensen claimed he was unhappy with Everton’s position in the table, insisting they had been the victims of some bad luck. Everton also made nine signings in the summer, with the Toffees taking time to gel in their new players.

Everton, though, can take some confidence into the second half of the season after they ended Chelsea’s 34-game unbeaten run

One of Everton’s star players has been Kelly Gago, who has scored three goals in her eight appearances.

The Toffees face a fight on their hands to keep Gago, who is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Everton’s WSL results

  • Liverpool 1-4 Everton (07/09/25)
  • Everton 0-2 Tottenham (14/09/25)
  • Everton 1-2 London City Lionesses (19/09/25)
  • Brighton 1-0 Everton (28/09/25)
  • Leicester City 1-1 Everton (05/10/25)
  • Everton 1-4 Manchester United (12/10/25)
  • Aston Villa 3-3 Everton (02/11/25)
  • Everton 1-2 Manchester City (09/11/25)
  • West Ham 3-1 Everton (16/11/25)
  • Chelsea 0-1 Everton (07/12/25)
  • Everton 1-3 Arsenal (13/12/25)

How are Everton’s summer signings performing?

Ornella Vignola has been the standout signing for Everton, despite only adding one goal since her hat-trick on her debut against Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has the highest average rating out of any Toffee player this season at 7.20, followed by Kelly Gago’s 6.84 and fellow new signing Maz Pacheco on 6.74.

Martina Fernandez, Rion Ishikawa and Ruby Mace have all established themselves as regular starters for Everton.

Like every Everton player, they have not found it easy in what has been a challenging first half of the campaign for the Toffees.

Hikaru Kitagawa, Katie Robinson, Rosa van Gool and Yuka Momiki have all been in and out of the squad, showing how difficult it has been for Sorensen to decide on a preferred starting XI.

Performance of Everton head coach

Brian Sorensen’s side go into the winter break on a positive note thanks to the victory over Chelsea.

If Everton had failed to beat Chelsea, Sorensen could of had more pressure on his shoulders with what would have been just one win in 11 games.

However, by beating Chelsea, it gives Everton a potential building block towards an improved second half of the season.

The Toffees are only five points ahead of bottom-of-the-table Liverpool and Sorensen will be keen for the Toffees to extend the gap when action resumes in January.

Everton WSL midseason report grade: C-

Everton would have secured a WSL midseason grade report of D if it were not for the victory over Chelsea.

It has been a difficult start for the Toffees, who are 10th in the WSL with just eight points from 11 games.

There have been some positives to take like their fightback in the 3-3 draw with Aston Villa and their 4-1 win away at Liverpool.

Everton should be safe from relegation this season, but the squad should be capable of pushing the top-half rather than languishing near the bottom.
