Norway youth international defender Elise Stenevik has signed for Everton from Swedish club Eskilstuna United for an undisclosed fee and on a two-year contract.

The 22-year-old told evertontv: “It’s amazing to join Everton. It’s a big step in my career and I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“The English league is the best in the world, which I think is really good for my development.

“I had other choices but the chance to join a club like Everton was too good to turn down. The quality of football, the players and staff at the club, the level of the league – it all feels good.”

Manager Brian Sorensen told evertonfc.com: “For her age, she has experience in the Swedish league, which is important, and I feel she brings something different to our squad.

“She can come in and play both full-back positions as she’s two-footed. When we were scouting across Sweden, Elise stood out.

“She’ll fit into our team well. She can move the ball fast, is good in one-on-one duels and is a really exciting addition to our squad.”
