Brian Sorensen says there is no further news on Kelly Gago’s potential move away from Everton.

Kelly Gago has been linked with a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, and Sorensen had confirmed last week that she had handed in a request.

He had also added that the release clause in her contract had not yet been met.

And asked at his Friday press conference if there was an update, he replied simply: “No.”

Brian Sorensen: Everton have a plan in place

Sorensen also spoke about the incoming transfer activity over the last year, dismissing the idea that there had been a splurge last summer that had not been equalled during this window.

And he revealed that he hoped that there would be some more additions to the squad to boost Everton’s attacking options.

“Us spending a lot of money in the summer, I think we spent what other teams spend on one player,” he said. “There’s a plan in place, we are building a little more sustainably, and did a lot with Goodison Park, all of these things around, and try to build a young, exciting team.

“It’s challenging because they have to adapt to the league and there are not a lot of new players in and so on and so on. So there’s a plan in place and we are working towards that plan, of course, with injuries that [are] not part of the plan and that’s where we have to try to navigate and that’s also why we are working really hard now if we can bring in an extra [player] or two in the offensive part.

“But at the end of the day, if we don’t succeed with that, it doesn’t change the long-term plan.”

Since July 2025, Everton have added Rion Ishikawa, Hikaru Kitagawa, Yuka Momiki, Katie Robinson (on loan), Martina Fernandez, Maz Pacheco, Ruby Mace, Hannah Blundell (on loan) and most recently Laila Harbert (on loan).

They face Aston Villa at Goodison Park this weekend.
